An award? For me?

I was nominated (twice – I was shocked) for a One Lovely Blog award. Thanks to Bean at Just Plodding Along and Jenny at The Little JBird for the nominations. You rock!

With this award, there are rules. Of course I’ll follow them because I’m a stickler for that type of stuff. Unless it involves eating whipped cream. If that is the case, I’ll be breaking  rules all day long.
  • Link back to the blogger who nominated you
  • Paste the award image anywhere on your blog
  • Share seven facts about yourself
  • Nominate other blogs you enjoy for this award
  • Post a comment on your nominees’ blogs to let them know of their nomination
Seven facts about the turtle

I was going to use my standard facts that I always use when asked to write facts about myself, but I decided people probably already know them anyway. I did have to throw the whipped cream-hating fact out there earlier because I don't want that stuff near me. Seriously. But, hopefully these are somewhat new material. And, somewhat interesting. Hmm, maybe not.

1.  I'm in love with Diet Dr. Pepper. It's extremely serious. It's the longest-lasting relationship I've ever had, and I don't see it ending. Ever.

2.  I refuse to watch sad movies. I watch a movie for entertainment, and I am entertained by laughing, not crying. I’m still irritated at Adam Sandler for “Click.” Shame on you for tricking me, Adam!
I'm never serious. My movies shouldn't be either.
3.  I had four pet ducks. Two stuck their heads through their pen and got their heads eaten off by some scary animal. Harry and Ace remained and had to be herded into the garage each night to avoid the same fate.

4.  I was a major tomboy growing up. I loved sports, and I collected bugs for fun. I still love sports, but I love lip gloss, nail polish and shoes more than bugs now.
I still love watching baseball with my dad.
5.  My mom was very strict about what I watched and listened to growing up. I couldn’t watch cartoons because they were too violent or satanic, I couldn’t watch any movie that wasn’t rated PG, and I couldn’t listen to rap. But, I watched the Smurfs whenever I could, I watched PG-13 movies (the horror) when I went with friends to the movies, and I listened to rap (secretly).
One of the completely appropriate CDs I owned. My mom would be proud.
6.  I’ve seen LL Cool J in concert three times. This lady really does love Cool James.
LL before a concert at a celebrity flag football game.
7.  The first CD I owned was Billy Ray Cyrus’ "Some Gave All." Gosh, that’s embarrassing.

Nominations

Julie at Am I There Yet?: A fellow runner and a horse lover, Julie blogs about running and horses. Shocking, right? But, she does it so well. I love her writing, and I find myself engrossed in her blog posts.

Linda at Shadow Mama: I went to college with Linda (at the best school ever, Kansas State), and I was always amazed at her drive. With four kids, her husband's produce and jelly business, her recent graduation from nursing school and her ability to fit running into her schedule, I'm even more amazed at her drive.

Rachel at Happy Healthy Runner: So, I'm a little behind on this ... she just posted her answers for this today. But, I'm still nominating her. She always has the most encouraging comments, even though she is so much speedier than me. She rocked out a marathon this year in less than 4 hours. She's injured now, which is a total bummer, but I know she'll come back rocking her runs.

Bean at Just Plodding Along: Yeah, yeah, I know she nominated me, but I would totally nominate her if she didn't nominate me first. She rocks out half marathons on a regular basis and is shooting for 30 half marathons before she's 30. Pretty cool, right? Plus, she's into celebrity gossip (and Jessica Simpson) just like me.

Jenny at The Little JBird: Again, yeah, she nominated me. But, she's still on my list. Why? This girl is hardcore. She runs fast. She runs far. She never gives up. She pushes through no matter what. I'm constantly amazed at her drive and desire.

    1. Of course! His abs are quite amazing. Thankfully, they always manage to make an appearance at his concerts.

  4. Jina, you rock. More than the Rock-n-Roll Marathon. More than a geode. Almost more than AC/DC. And I too nominate you because you inspire me, and it has nothing to do with running. Your positive outlook, ability to ignore ugly stuff and ugly behaviors or at least put them behind you, your independence and drive, all traits I adore in you.
