Randomness: it's what I got

If randomness was a job requirement, I would be a rockin' employee. Unfortunately, it's not, and I have to use this as my outlet.
  • With no race on the schedule until October, I’m finding myself losing some motivation. Well, it probably has something to do with the hot and humid summer months looming, too. Running feels so much more difficult, and I’m already starting to panic about my declining skills. So, it’s a good thing I don’t have a race until October. Maybe I’ll quit panicking by then.

Probably won't quit sweating a ton, though

  • I conducted an unofficial study for a week . The results? I drink 25% more water with lemon in it. Hopefully this will help combat the heat and humidity.
  • In other beverage-related news, I drink my coffee black now with a few sprinkles of cinnamon. I kicked the sweetener out many months ago, but I never thought I could kick the milk/cream/powdered dust creamer. I always said, “I could never drink coffee black.” Take that, negative self! You can.
  • This video has been cracking me up for the last week for many reasons: (1) I had a dog that did this; (2) I love the way her ears bounce; and (3) I love that she stops, looks around and keeps going because the music is still bumpin’.

  • I received an email this week from a local radio station, and this was the title.
GAH! The horror! Week is spelled wrong?!? Surely one read through before you hit “Send” would have caught that, right? Proofreading is kind of my thing, but that’s pretty basic. That’s not to say that this blog has an occasional grammatical or spelling error (we’re all human, right?), but come on, folks.
Do you like running in the heat? Do you drink water with lemon? Do you drink your coffee black? Have you tried cinnamon in your coffee?

  1. Love that dog video! LOL!

I live in The South, so running in the heat is kind of a thing. I don't mind it and I prefer it to the cold. I don't like lemon in my water (although limes or mint are ok). I rarely drink coffee, but I can drink it black if I have to. I don't think I would like cinnamon in it, unless it was full of cream and sugar as well.

  2. It is getting awfully humid around here. The mornings are still bearable for runs though so I'm thankful for that.

I used to love my caramel lattes from Starbucks but if the coffee is good, I can drink it black. Nowadays, I drink it black with a touch of skim milk and I'm fine. :)

    Have a great day!

  3. I was once a runner, in high school that is. Then I graduated and stopped being active. At 385 lbs, I can't run. Someday.

I don't drink a lot of coffee but when I do it has milk and sweetener (either artificial or the real stuff). I can't imagine drinking it black, but who knows someday I will. Haven't tried cinnamon, but it does sound interesting.

Water with lemon is something I enjoy but don't have enough of. Note to self: buy some lemon.

    Have a great weekend.

  4. Why don't you schedule a race for June? That way it'll keep you running!
I drink my coffee every morning, but I HAVE to use my sweetener and cream. I feel slightly guilty, but that's the only way I can drink it!
If I'm at a restaurant I always get my water with lemon, but at home I just drink it plain.

  5. I love that video too! I think it is normal to lose some motivation when summer roles around. I have to have creamer- it is a vice- you are amazing for giving that up!

  6. I hateeeee the heat. But I better get used to it :) Marathon training in the summer = no joke. I saw that vid this past weekend and LOL'd pretty hard - never had any pets "dance" to music. I love lemon in my water and I haven't moved over to drinking black coffee yet.

  7. It's starting to get humid here and I'm not enjoying my runs much either. The last two have been pretty miserable with the amount of sweat pouring off me--and we're nowhere near summer heat yet. :/ I'm going to try to go at least once a week, same deal I made myself in the dead of winter!
